Agustín Torroba

Agustín Torroba has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Energies from the University of Buenos Aires. He also holds a Diploma in Energy Economics and Energy Planning. Additionally, he is a Diploma holder in Renewable Energy Project Assessment and Storage from the University of the Center for Macroeconomic Studies of Buenos Aires (UCEMA).

He worked as an advisor at the former Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Argentine Nation and served as the National Director of Biofuels. He has authored various specialized papers, books, and book chapters on biofuels and energy. Moreover, he acts as a guest lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires and the Austral University.

Currently, Agustín Torroba serves as an International Specialist in Biofuels and Renewable Energies at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), a specialized institute of the Organization of American States (OAS). He also holds the position of Technical and Executive Secretary of the Pan-American Coalition of Liquid Biofuels (CPBIO).

José Orive is currently the Executive Director of the International Sugar Organization, a post he assumed in January 2014.

Previously Mr Orive was the Executive Director of the Central American Sugar Association (AICA) for 19 years, where he was responsible for negotiations for the the private sugar industry, with emphasis on coordination of    joint actions on priority issues, clearinghouse for information relevant to the sector, publications, participation in international forae.

Since 2010 he also was a partner in ARTLEX law firm in charge of large corporate clients, distribution contracts and environmental issues and arbitration.  He has also held senior posts in other law firms in Guatemala.

Soon after graduating from Georgetown University Law Centre in Washington in 1985 Mr Orive took up the post of Minister Counselor for Economic & Commercial Affairs, Embassy of   Guatemala, Washington, D.C.

Floriano is a sociologist and social scientist graduated from USP. He was elected Federal Deputy for the PSDB of São Paulo in the 55th Legislature (2015-2019). Former Secretary of State for Social Development in São Paulo. He completed a specialization in Legislative Process and Executive/Legislative Relations at the University of Brasília (UNB). He took an extension course at the São Paulo School of Government and completed his postgraduate studies in 2011 at FIA/USP and in Environmental Studies at FUNDACE. In the Ministry of Education in 1999, he was the Director of Projects for the Higher Education Secretariat, where he created and implemented the Student Financing Program (FIES), which replaced the Brazilian educational credit program (CREDUC).

From January 2001 to December 2002, Floriano was the Secretary of the National School Voucher Program, the first program in the country in the income transfer area that gave rise to the social programs of the current government.

He leads a team of 97 collaborators at Datagro, housed in seven offices (Alphaville, Sao Paulo/Capital, Ribeirao Preto, Santos, Recife, Piracicaba, and New York), assisting a host of companies in market analysis, investments in production and logistics assets related to sugar, ethanol and other agrindustrial activities, in countries in the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Throughout the years, Dr. Nastari established a fruitful cooperation between Datagro and the International Sugar Organization (ISO), jointly organizing the prestigious Sugar & Ethanol Conference that precedes the Person of the Year Award (BrazilCham) and the New York Sugar Dinner for the last ten years. He was Chairman of the 19th ISO Annual Seminar in London.

Organizer of the Sugar & Ethanol Summit – Brazil Day, for five consecutive years in London, in cooperation with Brazil’s Ministry of External Relations. Organizer for seventeen consecutive years of the traditional Datagro International Conference in São Paulo that precedes the São Paulo Sugar Dinner, and the Datagro Ceise Br Fenasucro Conference in Sertãozinho, SP, the largest equipment fair for sugar & ethanol in the world. Organizer of the Global Agribusiness Forum, in partnership with the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB), ABRAMILHO (corn producers), ABCZ (cattle producers),Citrus BR (orange juice producers) and Forum Nacional Sucroenergetico (sugar & ethanol producers) a biannual venue which has the official support of the USDA, the European Commission, and the governments of France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Israel, Turkey and Cuba.

Dr. Nastari is a frequent speaker at energy, biofuels and agribusiness conferences around the globe, with frequent attendance in London, Paris, Brussels, New York, Washington, Delhi, Bangkok, Tokyo, Barcelona, Kyoto, Johannesburg, Bled, Orlando, São Paulo, Singapore, Amsterdam and Dubai.
