Peter de Klerk joined the International Sugar Organization as Senior Economist in January 2018.

Initial responsibilities included the analysis of molasses, ethanol and alternative sweetener markets, but since March 2020 he is responsible for the ISO’s sugar research.

He arrived from Itochu Europe where he was responsible for sugar market operations – ranging from analysis, logistics, futures and commercial transactions.

Prior to his four years at Itochu, Peter worked at Armajaro, Czarnikow and ED&F Man in the sugar analysis teams.  During a separate tenure with ED&F Man, he worked in Nigeria and Tanzania trading a range of commodities – sugar, ethanol. cocoa and cashew nuts.
