Ulysses Britto de Carvalho, born in Catanduva in the interior of São Paulo, studied in Brasilia and graduated in International Relations from the University of Brasilia/UnB. During this time, he worked in the public sector – the Public Relations Secretary of the Federal Senate and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, having served on Mercosur’s Working Subgroup No. 7 – “Industry” (SGT-7). He also has a postgraduate degree in International Marketing and an MBA in Business Administration from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
He began his career in the private sector in São Paulo in the early 2000s, working in international logistics. Between 2003 and 2006, he taught Marketing and International Negotiation on the International Relations course at the Ibero-American University Center (UNIBERO).
In 2006, in the midst of the boom in the national sugar industry, he began his career in the sugar-energy sector when he was hired by Açúcar Guarani to lead the Export Sales area. Between 2015 and 2020, he dedicated himself to the management of Tereos Commodities, the trading arm of the Tereos group, being responsible for the origination of third-party sugar in the Center South and Northeast.
At the end of 2020, he began his career at Sucden do Brasil, focusing on raw sugar origination and trading.
Between 2010 and 2014, he was a member of The Refined Sugar Association (RSA) panel of arbitrators in London.
