Andres is an international energy professional currently serving as president of bp Brazil and bp bioenergy.

Andres joined bp in 2005 working in oil supply and trading for Latin America based in Chicago. He spent most of his career working out of London and Brazil, leading the business development for gas supply and trading. In these roles he worked on projects in southern Europe, with a focus on Spain and Italy, West Africa, Egypt, Trinidad, Russia, Argentina and the UK. Since 2019 he has led the development of new businesses related to CCUS and blue hydrogen. In his former position as bp’s Senior Vice President for Strategic Corporates & Partnerships he worked with bp’s most strategic customers on decarbonisation solutions for hard-to-abate sectors. Alongside this role, Andres was also President of bp Spain, overseeing a complex, downstream business and managing the in-country relationships.

Andres graduated Cum Laude in Production Engineering at Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas-Venezuela, after which he joined McKinsey & Company. In 2003 he moved to Chicago to pursue an MBA at The University of Chicago where he graduated with Honors in 2005, majoring in Finance and Economics.

Outside of work, Andres enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is passionate about cooking, history and teaching as visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, SciencePo in Paris and IESA in Caracas.
