Agustín Torroba has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Energies from the University of Buenos Aires. He also holds a Diploma in Energy Economics and Energy Planning. Additionally, he is a Diploma holder in Renewable Energy Project Assessment and Storage from the University of the Center for Macroeconomic Studies of Buenos Aires (UCEMA).

He worked as an advisor at the former Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Argentine Nation and served as the National Director of Biofuels. He has authored various specialized papers, books, and book chapters on biofuels and energy. Moreover, he acts as a guest lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires and the Austral University.

Currently, Agustín Torroba serves as an International Specialist in Biofuels and Renewable Energies at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), a specialized institute of the Organization of American States (OAS). He also holds the position of Technical and Executive Secretary of the Pan-American Coalition of Liquid Biofuels (CPBIO).

Fred Zeller is CEO of the German cooperative SZVG, Suedzucker’s majority shareholder, since 1995 and managing director of the beet growers association VSZ since 2010. José Orive is currently the Executive Director of the International Sugar Organization, a post he assumed in January 2014.

Previously Mr Orive was the Executive Director of the Central American Sugar Association (AICA) for 19 years, where he was responsible for negotiations for the the private sugar industry, with emphasis on coordination of    joint actions on priority issues, clearinghouse for information relevant to the sector, publications, participation in international forae.

Since 2010 he also was a partner in ARTLEX law firm in charge of large corporate clients, distribution contracts and environmental issues and arbitration.  He has also held senior posts in other law firms in Guatemala.

Soon after graduating from Georgetown University Law Centre in Washington in 1985 Mr Orive took up the post of Minister Counselor for Economic & Commercial Affairs, Embassy of   Guatemala, Washington, D.C.

Floriano Pesaro

Floriano is a sociologist and social scientist graduated from USP. He was elected Federal Deputy for the PSDB of São Paulo in the 55th Legislature (2015-2019). Former Secretary of State for Social Development in São Paulo. He completed a specialization in Legislative Process and Executive/Legislative Relations at the University of Brasília (UNB). He took an extension course at the São Paulo School of Government and completed his postgraduate studies in 2011 at FIA/USP and in Environmental Studies at FUNDACE. He was elected as a city council member in 2008 and, in 2012, was reelected with 37,780 votes. He was ranked as the second-best legislator in the São Paulo Legislative Assembly by the NGO Voto Consciente.

A civil servant since 1995, Floriano has held important positions in all three levels of government. In Brasília, he served as Deputy Chief for Parliamentary Affairs at the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic. In the Ministry of Education in 1999, he was the Director of Projects for the Higher Education Secretariat, where he created and implemented the Student Financing Program (FIES), which replaced the Brazilian educational credit program (CREDUC).

From January 2001 to December 2002, Floriano was the Secretary of the National School Voucher Program, the first program in the country in the income transfer area that gave rise to the social programs of the current government.

Between January 2003 and December 2004, he was Deputy Secretary of the Chief of Staff of the State Government of São Paulo; Executive Secretary of the Public Management Quality Committee; and Coordinator of the Social Policy Management Committee, established to formulate social policies, programs, and actions for the State Government.

Starting in January 2005, during his last period in the Executive Branch, Floriano was appointed Municipal Secretary of Assistance and Social Development of the city of São Paulo, where he created an innovative social management model, implementing the programs São Paulo Protege and Ação Família – Viver em Comunidade, as well as launching the unprecedented campaign “Give more than alms, give a future,” which removed over 2,000 children from child labor in the capital.

With extensive experience in trade negotiations and trade disputes at the International Trade Commission and the World Trade Organization, Dr. Nastari has acted before the Brazilian Government as Chief Economist in the trade disputes involving ethanol exports to the United States (US ITC), and subsidized sugar exports from the European Union, European Union bananas import regime, and Brazilian regime for the import of used and retreaded tires (WTO).

He is Arbitrator at the “Camara FGV de Arbitragem” (Arbitration Chamber of the Getulio Vargas Foundation), and at “Camara de Conciliação e Arbitragem da Sociedade Rural Brasileira”) and has acted as Expert Testimony in many cases, at this Chamber and at ICC, the International Chamber of Commerce, in Paris.
